Lata is a mixed race white and Indian theatre director born in South East London.

 

Lata was an assistant director on the RSC's Henry VI Rebellion and Wars of the Roses (2022). She is an alumna of the Young Vic Introduction to Directing course (2018) and a creative associate of Lazarus Theatre Company.

 

Lata studied Music at Oxford University. Much of her work explores our relationship with music, the world as an auditory space, and the power of language. She is a multinstrumentalist, composer and sound designer. Migration, displacement and mixed-identities are also recurring themes in her work .

 

Named as one of 50 influential neurodivergent women by Women Beyond the Box in 2022, Lata is an advocate for radical disability-centred theatre, making theatre about bodies, pain, and neurological difference. She has experience directing integrated BSL, creative captioning and audio description. 
 
Lata is a youth worker and arts practitioner, and trained in drama facilitation at London Bubble as a Young Associate in 2017. She has directed youth theatre in the UK and Switzerland.
